Amalia Calderón-Argelich

Postdoctoral Researcher

Amalia is a postdoctoral researcher at ICTA-UAB. She holds a PhD on Environmental Science and Sustainability from ICTA-UAB,a MSc in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability from ICTA-UAB and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the Universitat de Barcelona. She is currently investigating how resilient green and gray infrastructure may increase vulnerability to climate gentrification and heat injustices in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona within the ClimateJusticeReady project.

She has also  investigated the use and perceptions of green and blue public spaces (i.e., parks, gardens, coastline) while addressing the needs of historically marginalized communities including women and non-binary people within the FEMPUBLIC project. Her doctoral research focused on the planning and implementation of greening policies within sustainability agendas and its implications in terms of environmental justice and  incorporating a gender perspective. More broadly, she has contributed to the inclusion of environmental justice and social equity lenses in ecosystem services-based research, policy, and practice at both local and international levels.
